SHENZHEN plans to add 45,000 roadside parking spots in the city and will implement new parking fees according to regional differences.
Parking fees in non-residential areas will be increased, and Shenzhen will change parking fee regulations for government vehicles, said a city transportation report approved by the city government.
The city will encourage residents to choose public transportation through adjustment of the parking fees, and by other economic and administrative measures designed to maintain acceptable traffic levels and reduce rush hour traffic jams in central business districts.
Phase three of Metro construction will enable residents to reach a Metro station within 800 meters in most parts of the city. By 2015, the city will add and adjust 300 bus routes, providing stops within 500 meters of each other across 93 percent of the city, the report said.
The city also will facilitate planning of express bus links and expedite construction of the Futian-Bantian Express Bus Link, which will cover 21.6 kilometers along Zhenhua Road West, Huanggang Road, Meiban Boulevard, Wuhe Boulevard, Jihua Road and Banxuegang Boulevard.
The number of vehicles registered in Shenzhen is about 2 million. About 200,000 additional vehicles, registered outside of Shenzhen, also are on local roads.
