Dameisha Beach

DAMEISHA Beach would limit the number of visitors to a maximum of 40,000 a day during the Dragon Boat Festival, the Yantian District Government said Tuesday.

The park would open from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. during the holidays and would close for a typhoon or thunderstorm, yesterday’s Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.

Traffic information would be conveyed by media including text messages, LED screens on expressways, newspapers, TV and radio.

The district government would continue to encourage visitors to avoid peak times.

Dameisha beach, which is free, is often overcrowded during holidays. The park occupies an area of 360,000 square meters and facilities were designed to accommodate up to 30,000 visitors a day.

On peak days, the number of visitors rose by up to 10 times and public security, traffic and environment were the top concerns in the area.

The traffic control was first imposed for the National Day holidays in 2009.
